The European Federation of Homeopathic Patient Associations (EFHPA) believes that healthcare research should start with the people it aims to serve.
That belief is at the core of the HOMA Project.
Through a series of rigorous systematic reviews, the HOMA project evaluates the clinical efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of Homeopathic Medicinal Products in the treatment and prevention of a range of health conditions. But evidence alone is not enough. Research must also reflect real experiences, real needs, and real lives.
Patients as Advisors
From the very beginning, the HOMA project was designed with patient involvement at its heart. The research team at GKF (Gesellschaft für klinische Forschung), together with project coordinator Dr Robbert van Haselen, recognised that meaningful research requires meaningful patient input.
An innovative feature of this project is that patients are involved as collaborators, not research subjects. As Patient Advisors, they contribute directly at key stages of the research process.
Patient Advisors:
- Share their lived experiences
- Provide feedback on how research methods and findings are presented
- Help ensure results are clear, relevant, and meaningful for patients, the public, and decision‑makers
By shaping how research is communicated, Patient Advisors help bridge the gap between science and everyday life.
Research Is Stronger When Patients Are Involved
When patients are included, research becomes more relevant, more transparent, and more impactful. Their perspectives help ensure that outcomes truly address patient priorities and support informed healthcare decisions.
Healthcare research should reflect real lives — not just data.
Become a Patient Advisor
EFHPA invites patients to join the HOMA project as Patient Advisors. By sharing your experience, you can help shape research that reflects real needs and real outcomes.
Your voice matters.
Your experience can make a difference.
EFHPA is seeking Patient Advisors with a wide range of health conditions over the next two years. We also invite organisations, patient groups, and supporters to help us identify potential Patient Advisors within their communities.
