The 200 year old mystery of how homeopathy’s diluted medicines work seems to have been moved a dreamstime_xs_23209806step closer to being solved. A new piece of research published in the open access journal ‘BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine’ proposes a novel model for homeopathic remedy action on living systems. Homeopathic remedies are proposed as source nanoparticles that mobilize hormesis and time-dependent sensitization via non-pharmacological effects on specific biological adaptive and amplification mechanisms in living biological systems.
The main criticism of homeopathy has always been based on the fact that its high dilutions go beyond the so-called Avogadro number and therefore that no molecules of the source material can be present. It seems that as science moves on far beyond Newton, and nanotechnology is a clear example of that happening, an explanation for the mechanism of action of homeopathy’s medicines comes ever closer to being able to be elucidated.
